Lesson 1 EROSION
'Erosion' is the movement and change of natural environments
due to forces of nature. There are different forms of erosion.
For example, wind erosion arises when wind, a force of nature,
smashes against rocks. As a consequence, material of the rocks disappears,
which creates a new transformed form of the rock.
Dunes in the desert are also a form of erosion because wind, a force of nature,
moves the sand and creates new piles of sand during this movement,
which changes the environment and results in dunes.
Another example of erosion is ice. Due to heavy snowfall a huge amount of snow ️ in the mountains sinks into the ground after which streams of ice, 'glaciers', appear.
So, a force of nature, snowfall, transforms mountains into 'glaciers.'
Pebbles and stones are a form of erosion as well when they are replaced
by waves of the sea. Sometimes these pebbles and stones get carried away
by wild waves and arrive at the beach where they transform a sand beach
into a new natural environment: a pebble beach.
